We finally have a HOUSE.....

Since Nick was transferred to his new job and has been staying at the Cox Resort. He has finally talked me into renting the house up the hill from my parents. Every day he would drive by the house and just drool. He continued to talk about the house all time. Finally I talked to Larry & Carol Mount - Who are like grandparents to us about renting from them. Nick and I have always wanted to move back to the fremont county area. It was weird... It was like Nick's dreams were coming true. When i told him that the Mounts were going to allow us to move in and rent... I literally thought he was going to have a heart attack. He hugged and kissed me alot.

On March 16, we were able to move everything out of the apartment in Des Moines thanks to the help of my parents. We trailered all the belongs back to the house and began unpacking a couple of days later. This was the perfect time since it was Spring break at Iowa State. The new diningroom furniture and appliances were going to be delivered during the week as well. I was excited, overwhelmed and sad all at once. I always had dreamed of getting my own place. I just never knew it would be so close to many of the people that I loved so dearly. Nick and I will be forever indebted to Larry and Carol.

Some things about the house... It is a 2 story home- with 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 2 car garage, 1/2 basement, and large yard. Nick is more excited about being able to have flowers and a garden.

I've added some pictures of the house this far as it will continue to be a work in progress. Nick and I will be living apart until I graduate from Iowa State and I will be living at the apartment in Des Moines until our lease is up.

2010 Christmas with the Roberts

Nick and I spent Christmas with his immediate family on Jan 15 & 16 in Des Moines. It was nice to hangout and see Josh, Sarah, Shanna, Jeff, Greg, Kathy and Hobbs. Even though Nick and I live in Des Moines we are so busy and hardly have time to go and visit with people. Grad School is definitely getting more exciting. It is crazy to think that is will soon be coming to and end...

Christmas with the Roberts family is always fun and interesting. We always enjoy our time with the family as nick loves to play cards and to love on Hobbs. Meg was able to unwrap her first Christmas presents from Grandma Roberts. She got a new rawhide bone and a canister of doggy treats. She was so thankful for her wonderful gifts. They have a tradition on hiding an ornament shaped as a pickle. After everyone is done opening presents we get to go searching on the tree for the pickle ornament. It gets kinda crazy because the person who finds the pickle gets to open another present. This present is generally very special. I've added some pictures from the weekend.

Meg & Momma Snow Day!

Meg and I have been spending lots of time together now that she and I are living together in Des Moines. I was gonna get up and get ready for work when I turned on the News and saw that ISU will not be open for classes. Ther weather outside is pretty nasty. Meg and I cuddled for most of the day. We watched some movies and skyped with daddy and Grandma Carol. We enjoyed the day together going out to play in the snow and then coming back to relax and enjoy the day off.

Each and everyday Nick and I are reminded of things that we are very Thankful for.... Today as we spend the day celebrating Thanksgiving with his family...We stop to thank god for bring each other into our lives. We could not have asked for a more special person to share our lives with.

Lindsey: I am thankful for my loving, caring and supportive and trusting family. I am thankful for my amazing husband and friend.

Nick: He said, " I am thankful for my beautiful, gorgeous and intelligent wife who always keeps me in line." "I am also thankful for my gracious things the good lord has presented before me."

Together we talked about the most important goals in our lives to come. We are both very family oriented and enjoy the wonderful times that we can go and spend with our families. We struggled to compromise on which family we have to visit during the holidays. Because if it was up to us we would try and see everyone. Sometimes there just isn't enough time in the day.

My favorite cousin came to stay the weekend with me. We decided that it would be fun to travel around Des Moines to see some sights and to take some pictures. We always have a fantastic time together. I love that she is growing up and we can talk. I do miss that I can't spend as much time with her as I used too. You can definitely tell that we are related with the chunky cheeks and the red hair.

Today we decided to take Meg for a walk down at the state capitol and also on the new river walk. It was a beautiful day and we sure enjoyed it. As you can see from the pictures we are two silly girls. While sierra was here for the weekend we played Wii, watched a few movies and just hung out. I look forward to many more amazing sleepovers. I do love this girl... She is one of my best friends....

Salt Lake City...3-12-2010

Nick and I began the adventure to Salt Lake City, Utah on friday March 12, 2010. We drove all night long and finally arrived arounf 6:00am. We were both never so excited to get to Grandma & Grandpa Duncan's...We unloaded our stuff from the car and then headed to bed for a few hours. For the last couple of days we have relaxed and enjoyed our time visiting with my grandparents and uncle. We took Nick to big Cottonwood canyon and took a few photos today.

All of the pictures above are photos that we have taken in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Grandma and I drove Nick up their to see Brighton and Solitude ski lodge. He was a little scared and was breathing hard until we got to the bottom. Tomorrow we are making the trek to southern Utah to Moab to arches National park. I am so excited to show Nick this area. We will be hiking to delicate arch and then to other sightseeing place.

The New Apartment

Yesterday Nick and I went and signed all the paperwork that we needed to for the apartment at Ashley Square. We are getting super excited about being able to move and begin utilizing things from out wedding. The Apartment is called the Jordan it is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom floor plan. It has 2 large walk-in closets and a woodburning the fireplace is more of a perk for Nick but we can also bring our own washer and dryer. The washer and dryer is my perk. It also has a balcony of the master bedroom and a balcony off the livingroom. I thought this was very cool. We are awaiting them to call and tell us that our criminal backgroound check and credit check are all ok. After this we are allowed to begin the process of deciding when to move-in. Prior to that the manager Carla stated that she will be having them replace all the carpet and tile.This made Nick and I a little more excited about living in this apartment. We have decided to begin moving the week of april 19th. During this time I will schedule homemakers to deliver our new master bedroom set. Nick and i will then slowly begin moving stuff ourselves. That following weekend my mom and dad have graciously agreed to help bring things from home to our new apartment.

Good Morning!
It has been along while since I have updated the blog. I intentionally think about it everyday and still things come up that prohibit me from stopping to write. I decided I was making time today....No more excuses! I have a few exciting things to write about. This week has been extremely awesome. I had a second interview with Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. After having my second interview I was offered the job for to summer. I am extremely excited...Things could be better...this is a dream come true. I will now be spending 14 weeks with my Grandmother.

Nick and I will also be taking a big step tomorrow morning as we will be submitting paperwork and signing for our new apartment. We had a crazy time looking all over the city. Finally we came to the conclusion that we needed to go with the place that we felt more comfortable.
I am leaving tomorrow afternoon for 5 days in Chicago to a conference called NASPA. I will be returing tuesday night. I will be home for approximately a day in a half before we leave on our trip.

Nick and I will be driving to Salt Lake City to visit my grandparents and then traveling on down to Moab. In Moab we plan to hike and see different landmarks. We are super excited to be spending time together.

Tis' the Season!

What a crazy day...Nick and I woke up to find it snowing outside our window this morning. It was a blessed sight as I love snow around Christmas time. We ate breakfast together as it has been awhile since we have been able to spend time with each other. I got all the ingredients out to being the endeavor of baking christmas sugar cookies. I was a little nervous since I've never done this without my mother. As I began to read the ingredient list I noticed I didn't have any baking powder only baking soda. I decided to hurry and run to wal-mart to get a few things.
So all afternoon i've been making sugar cookies. It started out wonderful and ended wonderful. I just wish for a bigger kitchen with more room. I also made wonton stars for Nicholas this evening. They turned out perfect and I can't wait for him to come home from work. We have 4 more days until Christmas. I still have many things on my list left to do before we can offically celebrate. Presents need wrapped, still need to buy a few more presents, back bags to travel out of town, clean up the house and do laundry. I work at the university for the next three days. I also will be nannying on wednesday for one of my families. Nick will be working for the next four days and then he will be off until the 30th. We plan to spend Chrsitmas eve and most of Christmas day with his family. Then on christmas day in the late evening we will be travelling to spend about 3-4 days with my family.

Good Afternoon,
I always say to my self dont forget to updat the blog and then 4-5 dys have passed. Things have been going well. We were able to dig out of the snow storm and resume our lives as normal. I finished my first semester of Graduate school yesterday at noon. It felt so good to finally be done. It went so fast and was an awesome learning experience. I am so thankful for my mentor Wes Brooks who encouraged me to attend classes. I have really enjoyed every minute even the rough times. I am thankful for a supportive and motivating husband.
The next couple of days will be a relaxing and enjoyable time as we prepare for the holiday season.

Winter Wonderland...AKA Blizzard

Lastnight was crazy...As nick and I sat and watched the snow fall. I kept saying to him.."I 'll believe the predictions when I see it." Little did I know that when I woke us this morning there was 16-17 inches of snow on the ground. We had drifts up to the door that are 5-6ft tall. The wind is blowing and the windows are all iced over.
I woke up at 7:30am this morning to answer my phone and then decided to start cleaning the apartment a bit. I did some dishes, put the dishes away and began to start breakfast. I put a pot of coffee on for Nicholas. I was trying to be quiet so he could sleep in a little this morning. I also decided to start a crockpot with homeade scalloped potato & ham which we will be having for dinner tonight. If feels so good to just spend some quality time with him and to have almost all the chores done.
Our goal today is for me to finish my final papers and then to just sit around and watch a few movies. We will continually keep you up to date on the Winter blizzard.

Where has time gone?

Wow! It has sure been awhile since I was able to get on this site. There have been many changes in The Roberts household. Nick is still diligently working at Hy-Vee as an assistant manager. In his free time he helps the Grand View maintenance department scoop the snow on the campus. He is a great husband. On his days off he does and excellent job helping around the apartment.
Well, If your unaware in August I start back to college pursuing my Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Iowa State University. It is crazy to think that I have almost finished my first semester in graduate school. It has been an amazing journey. In september I began the process of converting to catholism. The classes will continue until easter vigil where I will take my first communion and officially join the catholic church. This has been a journey that I feel is bring my relationship closer with God and my husband. The support that Nick has given me through this process has been amazing and I love him for that. I continue to work at Grand View University in the office of Student Life. I still also oversee Jensen and Knudsen Hall.
As a couple Nick and i have been discussing the possiblity of beginning a family. It has not be an easy decision but it is an important topic for us to discuss. Our faith in God will help us to know when the right time for us as a couple will be.
We look forward to spending our first christmas together as a married couple. We put a tree up in our apartment and decorated the livingroom window with some christmas lights. The holiday season is a great time for us to sit back and reflect on all the special people in our lives.

Good Evening! Well, It has been crazy busy here over the last several weeks. I thought to myself along time ago that I would be blogging everyday. Well, that definitely has not been happening. So above are a few things that we have been dealing with. I think the last time that I was on the blog I told you that Nick and I have been dealing with a mess as our apartment has been getting a face lift. The college has been painting the living room, Kitchen, hallway and bathroom. It has been stressful, chaotic and awesome. Nick and I have been super happy with the job that has been done. They have not yet been able to get to the bedroom. I have been working very long and hard getting students moved out of the dorms on campus. We have also been getting the dorms cleaned to transition summer residents to their summer space. I interviewed for the director of housing here at Grand View. The interview took place last Monday. It has now been a game of waiting. Sometimes I feel that no call is not good. But, it is important to keep a positive attitude as possible. Some of the other pictures that I placed are from the wedding photographer. I had to take a picture of the picture. She has the site locked down so you can't take your own photo. This week has been crazy busy for both Nick and I as we are both working many hours and Nick has been applying for more jobs. He no longer will be working for Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial as he felt the job just wasn't something he was into. We are extremely excited about the pictures that were taken by the Professional wedding photographer. She is an amazing person and we look forward to continuing our work with her. Nick and I would like to recommend her to as many people as possible. Approximately 4 days ago Nick and I Dog sat for his parents dog Hobbs. We brought him over to our apartment and he slept all night at the foot of Nick and my bed. At some points I was afraid to roll and move. I forgot to let you know that we also had a busy weekend as Nick graduated from College on April 24th. His Grandparents and Godparents came back to see him walk across the stage at the Veterans auditorium. It was the most wonderful time to see him walk across stage with a giant smile. I will continue to keep you updated a little better on the happenings in our life. God Bless.

Our Life is a Whirlwind right now!

Good Evening! As I sit here tonight finally at my own computer I thank Grand View for finally getting my living room and kitchen painted. Tonight I was able to get 85% of the things put back together. Nick had to work at Hy-Vee from 6pm-11:30pm. He is now home and ironing his clothes for tomorrow. Things are starting to get busy here now as they are coming almost everyday to paint, sand and patch the walls in the apartment. The last several days have been pure chaos as the apartment has been in shambles. I think my sanity is slowly starting to come back as things begin getting back in order. I have issues with things being out of place. It is my OCD kicking in. I have been waiting and waiting for the wedding pictures to be posted by the photographer. I think I will e-mail her this week and see how much longer. Today, Nick and I have been married for exactly one month....It is even more amazing to be married. We truly enjoy each others company. This coming weekend we will be busy as it is check out week here at Grand View and Nick will be going through Graduation Commencement on Saturday. I will be posting pictures soon. God Bless

Good Evening! Well, I wanted to let you know that I had a crazy busy weekend dealing with residence life issues. The Roberts family on the other hand had a wonderful Easter. Nick and I spent the morning with his parents. He then had to work at 3:00pm at Hy-Vee. I have been working busily in the apartment all weekend to get things in order for the painters. Today that came in and covered all the holes in the walls. It is such a blessing to know that soon we will be able to hang things on the wall. It will look 100 times for homey. Nothing much is really going on. the semester is winding down and the students are getting wild.

Good Morning! Wow I can't believe that it has been almost five days since I last posted. I was trying to avoid that. Things have been crazy busy this week. I've been working 20-25 hours in the office at Grand View and then 20 hours a week at St. Theresa's School. When I come home i either have things to get ready for at Grand View or I nanny. Nick and I tried organizing the apartment a little better. While he was at work lastnnight I tore the entire bedroom apart vacuumed and deep cleaned. I also figured out how to take the closet doors off and but to shelves in the bottom and reorganized the bedroom closet to be more user friendly for short people like me. I then proceed to move the kitchen area around and finished when Nick arrived home. He was extremely excited that I had completed some much while he was away. The apartment is looking great and we can't wait to put some new pictures and things on the walls. Also yesterday the painters came in and began mudding and patching the holes in the walls. It will be awesome once we get the colors picked and put on the walls.
Today I got up after sleeping til 10:00am. I had a really long night lastnight doing Grad Assistant things and taking care of an issue on campus with another Grad Assistant and some of our Resident Assistants. Once I got out of bed I made the bed, opened the curtains and windows to let the sunshine and fresh air in. I proceeded to the kitchen to cook Nick breakfast. We ate breakfast together and then cleaned up...We both headed down stairs to start our laundry. We are trying to keep on top of things as we have a busy weekend ahead of us. I work at the school this afternoon, then nanny until 9pm. Nick works at Hy-vee today from 4-9pm and then will be home. Hopefully things will be quite around campus tonight. Tomorrow Nick and I have a few errands to run and then I have to nanny at 7Pm-1030pm. Nick has the night off and was thinking about doing something with his buddy Robert. Sunday we are going to 7am Easter mass and then out to brunch with Nick's parents. I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend. God Bless

Good Evening! Above you will find pictures of the bathroom, the new shower curtain is up, the rugs are laid, the new cabinets are up and it is finally finished. Nick and I worked evening Friday to get both cabinets put together. They have greatly improved our storage space in the apartment. You will also see that we finally got our bedding placed on the bed that we got as a wedding gift. We are very pleased that with how it goes with everything. We also have been diligently working to get over 200 thank you completed so that we may sen them in the mail tomorrow. We are super excited to say they are ready.... We both have been working and studying. He is studying for a life and health test and i am studying for my boards... Have a great week.

Good Morning! As you can see I have been slowly trying to get back into the swing of things. We had such a great time on our Honeymoon sleeping in and resting up that now my body kind of likes it. Over the last several days Nick and I have been working on all the Thank yous for everyone that sent a gift or came and celebrated with us. We are so grateful to have been blessed with awesome gifts. Our families have been amazing and we want to make sure that they all get thanked for their hard work. I've been working in the morning at Grand View and the early afternoon at St. Theresa's School. When I get home I have been trying to keep things cleaned and try to organize the apartment a little bit at a time. I believe that this is going to be a slow process. Nick has the day off tonight so i think we are going to have a night together. We haven't decided if we are going to the Bucs hockey game to see Robert or if we are going to chill and watch movies. I will be nannying tomorrow night and Nick has to work. Therefore we will not be seeing each other very much. Hope your having a great week.

Good Morning! So I have been kicking myself because I haven't gotten on here very much to blog. It has been kind of crazy trying to get back in the swing of things here. I wanted to add some photos from the wedding rehearsal and the Rehearsal dinner. Everyone that I run into continues to congratulate Nick and I. It is exciting to finally be married. We are definitely enjoying married life right now. Lately we have been trying to organize the apartment. We brought a few presents back with us and it was like a tornado hit the apartment. I hate unpacking. Over the last couple of days we have been working on thank you and trying to get them done and ready to be sent out. It has been a great process. We are super thankful for everything that we have been blessed with during this special time in our lives. Over the next several days I will continue to add more photos that have gotten. Oh the Honeymoon!

Good Evening! It has been along time since I have been able to get on here and blog. I've been itching to get pictures put up of our honeymoon and some of the pictures we got from our wedding. I hope you enjoy the awesome pictures above...We went to Cancun and stayed at the RIU Caribe Hotel and resort. It was the most amazing and romantic trip Nick and i have ever taken...We learned in a short period of time that early mornings and long flight can cause bicker amongst each other...But were married now and that is part of life...As we flew into Cancun it was like a dream. The ocean was extremely blue and the sand on the beach was white. I tried taking lots of pictures from the airplane of the coast line. It was hard but I was able to capture them. Once we finally landed be deboarded the plane and proceeded to pick up our luggage and head for the transportation gate...We spotted our transportation agent right off the bat.We waited for approximately 5 minutes before leaving the airport with several other couple who were on there honeymoon. We actually talked several times to different couples throughout our stay. Once arriving at our resort we checked in and headed to have lunch. It was an outdoor beach bar. We enjoy lunch while listening to the waves splashing on the shore. We swam several times in the ocean, swam in the pool and laid in hammocks. We meet a very nice couple from Wales named Denise and Mark Quarrington. We had drinks with them in the evening and meet them for dinner a couple of times. We exchanged information so we can keep in touch on facebook. One day we went Jet skiing on the bayside of the ocean for 2 hours. They took us to a deserted island and picked up sea shells and pieces of coral. Another little mission that we did was to take a romantic ride on the Columbus Lobster dinner trip. We visited with other couples on the cruise. We danced and listened to the saxophone player aboard the cruise. We then had a few drinks and we below deck to have a steak and lobster dinner. It was one of the most romantic times on the honeymoon. We couldn't believe the amount of alcohol that was being consumed by people around us at the resort. My fair skin was easily burned on the second day of the trip. My legs swelled a little and got really tight. It was like I had retained lots of water. Overall we had such an amazing time that we plan to take another trip again soon. Hopefully next time we will visit Puerta Vallatra. Good Evening!
Today was a long day! Lacey and I got up and did a few household chores. Mom left for Sam's in the morning. We got all the vacuuming and dishes completed in time to get showered and off to Shenandoah. We had tons of errand to get done in before the wedding rehearsal tomorrow. While in town we stopped by the emporium gift shop and picked up wedding presents that had been purchased and wrapped. We had to meet with the DJ at 1pm to finalize all the plans for the wedding night. At around 4pm Nick and Robert made it to mom and Dad's house. So far we have just been sitting around talking and getting all the final preparations done for the wedding reception decorating tomorrow. Wow, I can't believe tomorrow is the rehearsal. Fun time...

Girls day out!!!
Above are pictures from today. TODAY was a girls day out the bride, the mother of the bride, grandmother of the bride, sister of the bride and the matron of honor all went to Omaha to get nails done. The pictures were taken after we had our pedicures and it was time for us to move over and get our nails fixed. I really enjoyed myself today as I was able to spend some quality time with the girls. After we all finished getting nails we drove over to DSW. The picture of feet is a picture that was taken of Holly, Lacey and my foot. We all love shoes and had to get a fun picture. The week is flying by quickly and I feel as if things are getting more exciting each day. We did a little shopping and then I was able to take the girls out for lunch to Old Chicago. we sat around a giggled while munching on some Italian nachos. We had a few more stops before heading back to Southwest Iowa. My Grandmother from Salt Lake city is back in town and it is a great blessing. I look forward to seeing her. Tonight I've been working on the canvas for the rehearsal dinner and Holly stopped down to have dinner with us. We fiddled with the make-up and then worked on some things for the DJ. We are all getting excited about our little surprise at the wedding reception. I'm now sitting down to rest for a little while before I crash into my bed for the night. Tomorrow will be a busy day. I have to run a vase to the floral shop, get candle lighting sticks from the church, meet the DJ at 1pm and finish odds and ends for the wedding. A major thing that i need to accomplish is nick gift...Look forward to talking again soon... God Bless

4 days and counting...Holy Cow

Good Evening! Today was a very crazy day. had so many different errand to run that I felt like my head was spinning around. I ran an errand to Sidney to meet with the Photographer. We went over the picture list. Then after I left there i had to stop by the Fremont county courthouse and pick up the marriage license. Finally I was on my way to Shenandoah. Here I had to drop off my wedding dress at the cleaners, stop a wal-mart and pick up a few disposable cameras for the florist and the cake decorator. I dropped off the cameras and then headed back to Farragut. I stopped by Pami's to say Hi. I wanted to give her a picture and let her know that I love her... I miss seeing and talking to her. She is a special person in my life. I then had to run to Linda Holman's to get my eyebrows waxed. No one wants me to look like a monkey with thick eyebrows. Back on the road again....I was off to meet with my neighbor and make paper flowers for the dance reception. We did that for about 2.5 hours. I was starting to feel tired and had a headache so i decided to head home. where I was delayed by my favorite neighbors. I got on the ranger with my neighbor boy Logan and rode to his Grandpa's pond.....What a story teller he is.... I was in heaven out in the 78 degree weather.... Back at home I had dinner with Tom, Mom, and Dad... We are patiently awaiting the arrival of Grandma Paula and Uncle Tim. They are flying into Omaha tonight at 11:00pm.. Good Evening! No pictures today. I ran lot of errands this morning. I went and applied for the marriage license and then headed to omaha to hangout with Aunt Kimmy. We worked on pictures for the reception and then I headed to lacey's apartment. We sat around and visited and then I headed home. This week is beginning to go a little quicker than I was expecting. I look forward to a full day tomorrow. God Bless

Good Evening! Today was a busy day again filled with lots of fun. From the pictures above you can see that I went to pick my Great grandparents up and My grandpa helped me filled sand in jars. Grandma helped mom with the programs. When we finished Aunt Kimmy showed up and brought a basket for cards, made buttons for us to wear on Friday. she showed me a jar that she decorated and then brought the black and white pictures to us. I was totally impressed. they turned out awesome. Later in the evening a friend of my mothers came down and helped me to figure out a look with makeup. We had a great time and I feel very confident about things on my wedding day. This coming week will be an amazing time. i will be going up to Aunt Kimmy's to finish doing pictures with her and getting the rest of the napkins and mints. This has been a super exciting time. I am so glad to be home and enjoying the time spent with family. tomorrow I plan to get the marriage license, take grandma Newman to do a few errands, and then head to Omaha. Otherwise low key day. I can't wait until grandma Paula gets here. She will be flying in Tuesday. All things will soon becoming together a little better. By the way last night Nick texted me from his bachelor party and told me that he had won 263 dollars. He was super excited....Have a fantastic week

Good Evening! Hope all are having a wonderful weekend. Today was a super busy day. Mom and I ran into town to the bank, we then walked across the street to the church to check out the candelabras for the aisle of the church. We then headed down to Design Originals which is the flower shop. We took the vase that will hold the memory flowers in it. They wanted to see it so that they could quote us a price. We made a few last minute changes with things and added flowers. I am excited to tell you all that I decided to add a variety of Gerber daisy to the cake flowers. We then left to head down to meet with the cake lady. I had to give her part to the grooms cake and the cake topper to the wedding cake. Our next stop for the day was to see Kathy ketchum to pick up a few centerpieces for the wedding reception.
Once we made it back home mom worked on the quilts for deacon Bill and father Vern. They both are now in the final stages needing the binding. I cleaned in the basement most of the afternoon. We stopped for a little bit to visit with out long lost neighbor Cindi. I am super excited that she was able to stop over and see us. I was wanting her to help me with a painting project that I am working on for rehearsal dinner. Plus...It has been a million years since we visited and we had a lot to catch up on. Well the night has been winding down. I finished folding all the wedding programs and tried calling Nicholas...tonight is his bachelor party and I just wanted to make sure that he was okay. 8 Days to go and I'm finally home!

Good Evening! As you can see above Mom and I have been busy tonight getting a variety of pictures of me to be placed with pictures of Nick on the tables at the reception as a table decoration in the dance hall. My mom's mind is always thinking of something craft. Aunt Kimmy is coming down on Sunday to help us with a few more things that she has been working on. What a wonderful blessing she is to our family. Tomorrow Mom and I have a busy morning running errands to the florist, cake lady, the bank and the church. We also have to run to Kathy ketchums house to get a few decorations for the reception. It is so nice to be home. I had a minor little glitch tonight and my computer decided that it didn't want to start up. I was freaking because i have a lot of pictures that I hadn't moved over to the external hard drive. I prayed for a little bit and then a miracle happened. I still will not be able to sleep in my bedroom tonight because the bed is completely covered with tons of stuff for the wedding. I am excited to practice fixing my hair tomorrow and clean up the basement. Have a wonderful weekend.. We look forward to the next couple of days... God Bless

Good Morning!
I was unable to blog yesterday because I was super busy working on the wedding program. It turned out really good. I am actually extremely pleased with it. Nick had the day off so he went to his parents house to do some laundry. He came home and we cooked tacos together and sat down and visited. He didn't like it too much that I was acting silly. So I worked until about 10:00pm correcting errors and fixing names. I was also working on getting the font size correct and displaying stuff correctly on certain pages. As I went to bed around 11:00pm, while watching the food network. I heard a hard, loud pounding at my door. I checked the clock and it was 12:30am. I crawled out of my nice warm, comfy bed and answered the door. It was a student who was worried about his sister in another building across campus. So duty calls! I threw on a pair of sweats and began the trek across the frigidly cold campus last night. By the time I took care of the incident and got back home it was about 1:30am. I put my shorts back on and crawled into bed.

Now I am awake and ready for the day. It is still freezing outside...I am constantly praying that the weather will be warm the day of Our Wedding. Today, I will be packing for our Honeymoon and getting all things rounded up for the week that I will be gone to get ready for the wedding. I have been making my list so that way I can't forget to bring things. I look forward to spending time with my Grandma Paula and mother. This is a super special time and I am getting excited. I will also be making wontons for Nick to eat while I'm away. I promised that i would do that. I have a few things to accomplish before I am able to head off to my parents tomorrow afternoon. So I thought I would add a few of flowers that will be apart of the girls bouquets in the wedding the only colors that are missing is a purple flower and the yellow flower. I am unsure of what those will be. Today was a pretty busy day. I called the floral shop and got things organized with them. I then contacted father Vern via e-mail for some questions, I worked on the program. Every time I turn around I constantly catch myself making list of things I need to do. I've started to feel the nervousness settling in. I've contacted several people regarding different things that will be happening the week of the wedding. I am super excited my super close friend Sara Winkelman is going to be coming to spend the weekend with me. I haven't gotten to hug her in years.....I am so excited. Fun is around the corner. Tonight I will be going to Nanny for one of my families. I am super excited about spending time with David and Joey tonight. I'm going to bring some colors and paper so we can do some crafts. Good Evening! As you can see the days are beginning to come a little faster. Above are a few pictures of the things my Aunt Kimmy has been making for the wedding. She is the most amazingly crafty person I have ever met. I love her so much and I truly mean that. It is so special to have someone like her helping my mother keep things cheap and simple for the wedding. I can't say that there are too many things that she makes that I don't like. In the last couple of days I've called the cake lady, emailed my DJ the play list and other stuff. I also had to call the reception site for a few minor details and tomorrow I have to call the florist to get things squared away with her. Tonight I spent a majority of my time working on the program for the wedding. It was coming together nicely...My only problem is that I am somewhat computer impaired. I have been enjoying my time learning the process and I know one thing that I try and save as much as possible for my sister....Thanks and good night

Good Afternoon,

Sorry I wasn't able to get on an update again yesterday was a super busy day. I got up in the morning made biscuits and gravy for Nick. I then got some of the laundry around and headed to his parents house. I was meeting with Nick's mom to pick out pictures of Nick throughout his younger years. We are utilizing black and white photos on the dance floor to decorate. Mom is twisting wire to make the holders for the pictures. They will them be placed in a ball jar with sand to hold the pictures. So I spent about 3 hours at the Roberts' house yesterday. I got back to the apartment around 2:00pm and had to run some lunch up to Hy-Vee for Nick. I decided while I was there I would get a few of the things that we needed. I finally made it back to the apartment around 2:30pm. I put away the few groceries and then started scanning the pictures in for my mom. I had to scan them, then e-mail them in bundles to mom. She was going to Kim Shurters' home today to get a few things done for the wedding. I don't know how I will ever Thank Kimmy for everything that she has done to help...I love her to pieces.... After It took me about 2 hours to get the pictures scanned and sent via e-mail it was time for me to leave to go nanny for the Hallagin Family in West Des Moines. I was super excited about seeing my little buddies. I was at there home until 1:30am. I had a blast and David and Joey sure know how to wear me out.

Today, I got up to the New time changes at about 10:00am. Nick woke up and made a nice brunch for us. I ironed his shirt for work and then got a shower. He headed off to work and I went to run a quick errand. I need a few coins exchanged for a quarters. I decided to do some laundry at the apartment. So that I can work on the things on my list for the wedding. Tonight I am making a new Casserole for Nick. I am super excited about how it will turn out. I have a large list to tackle today so I better get started. I have to get the DJ e-mailed, finish the program, call Kathy ketchum, e-mail Father Vern, Call Dennis McDermott and begin cleaning a few things in the apartment. Have a great day~God Bless

Good Evening! I would first like to let you know that I am sorry for not being able to post on 16 days and counting. Last night, I babysat for Miss Molly & Miss Maryann. We thought since it was 70 Degrees out yesterday that we would venture to the park. The girls really wanted to ride their bikes but little did I know the tires were completely flat. The girls were devastated. I felt terrible so we decided that we would go using the wagon. We started down to the park when Nick called and said that I forgot about my 4:45pm meeting with my Ra's. The girls and I loaded the wagon into my car and headed over to Grand View. We got to my apartment and Maryann had totally passed out in the back seat. She was pooped from a long day at school. I carried her into my apartment and laid her on my couch and covered her with a blanket. Molly and I headed out to the lobby to meet with my three Ra's. She was excited to tell them that she finally last her tooth. It was a short meeting seeing that we really didn't have too much to talk about. My agendas have been very short. I let them know when I would be gone for the wedding and Honeymoon. So anyways, Last night I got home from the girls around 9:00pm. I talked to mom and Kimmy for quite awhile and then feel asleep waiting for Nicholas to get home from work.

Today! As you can see from above I finally got some pictures of the bulletin boards that i have been working on along with a few of the crafts that I have done with my little Pre- Kindergartners. I really enjoy the things I am able to do with my little guys. I love it when they light up and have to show off there amazing work to their parents. Tonight after work I went to nanny for a family that has two little girls and a little boy. I have nannied for them several times before and I really enjoy my time there. The girls and I generally play in the basement. They like me to watch them do gymnastics routines and judge, play a little indoor soccer, sit around and giggle and maybe watch a little Disney. Tonight we played outside for awhile since it was 60 again. They had to sow me their hamsters and the new baby fish that hatched this week in the aquarium. It was a little hard to get them to want to go up and get in bed. They insisted that I read books and get them milk. I know I am a sucker....I enjoy every minute that I spend with my little guys. They truly inspire me to be a better person and continue to shoot for my dreams. Well, here I am again waiting up for my handsome sweetheart to come home from his job. I would like to make sure that he is pampered a little bit to... And maybe he will give me a back rub...I missed it last night. Well, enjoy your weekend. 17 days and counting...Wowie!

Good Evening! I just was thinking it would be kind of cool to add a few of my favorite pictures. I had a few more but I accidentally pushed the wrong button and deleted a few. I love taking pictures if you didn't know that. I have tried to take as many pictures of Nick and I as possible. So as you all know there is 17 days left until Nick and I finally get to stand before many of you and say our vows. Many people continue to ask me is i am getting emotional right now. I actually feel pretty confident and relaxed. I still have a few things that are minor that I am working on with Nick. He is a busy person as you know. He has been putting in about 40 our a week at Hy-Vee and then a few business meetings a week for Modern Woodmen. Generally we get to see each other in the morning or right before bed depending on what time he gets home. It is so weird to be in my apartment without him...Not that I don't want home here or anything. It is just nice to come home relax, do a few things for work and then watch a little TV or read a book. See before when Nick is here the TV is either on with stuff he likes to watch or the Video games are being played. Sometimes that drives me bonkers. I am a person who has always love to sit in piece and quit or read a book. I do miss him though as he has truly spoiled me. I generally get a back rub every night. Fun thing is I now sometimes stay up just to get that awesome back rub....You don't really know how much you miss him until he is gone...Love ya babe!

18 days and counting...

As you all know I am a huge fan of the Bachelor and the Bachelorette...I was quite shocked at the turnout yesterday. My cousin Holly and I texted each other several times talking about the situation. It was interesting tonight to see how everyone was actually doing 6 weeks after the show. I truly hope that this works out between Molly and Jason. Nick and I have been following the show. Another favorite of ours is to watch Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice together. We generally like to make dinner together and then snuggle up on the futon together.
Tonight we tried a new dish...It was skillet lasagna. Nick said that it turned out better than her expected. I also cooked up some wonton stars and the dill dip that my mothers friend Kimmy gave me. Nick really loves the dill dip. He was been eating it on chips, carrots and celery. This week is a busy with for Nick as he is studying for his Insurance exam and working at Hy-Vee Tuesday-Sunday. Thursday- Saturday I will be nannying for a variety of family through Nanny2Shoes. I have nannied for the families before. I will fill you in if there is any new news. God Bless

19 days and counting...Little Cuties

Good Evening! So I posted a picture of my little friends from the daycare that I just adore. There names are Maryann(blonde doll) and Molly (brunette doll). I just recently started watching them when there mom needs someone. They are super great girls and i love spending time with them. The most exciting part about my wedding is that all the little guys that i love spending time with will be at my wedding to help me celebrate. Maryann and Molly generally can't wait to see me when I come to work...I love that they can always put a smile on my face...After I get back from my Honeymoon and get settled I promised the girls that we will have a girls slumber party...They are extremely excited...

Tonight I cleaned up my apartment and then sat down to watch the Bachelor. It wasn't what I expected to see on television. I kept texting my cousin Holly. We both were floored about the situation. As for Nicholas he is working at Hy-Vee untill 11:00pm. He had a very long day and therefore I see that he will be ready to shower and head off to bed. I try to do as much as I can to help him relax. He had a long morning he had a business with Modern woodmen. He went to meet the CEO of the company... Check back tomorrow for more News... God Bless

20 days to go...Final projects in the works!

Good evening! The pictures above are of a few of the projects that are in the works for the wedding. Mom was embroidering 15 hankies for special people in my wedding. The material with the lighthouses is the material for the quilt that will be given to Deacon Bill and Pat Smith. It will be the Thank you to them for coming to our wedding. I am super excited to see how this will turn out. My mother does such as great job with all of the quilts that she puts together. The pattern that we are using is known as Turing twenties. This weekend was filled with lots of fun and lots of tasks to be accomplished. The most important things to get done were and I can't wait to see the next 20 days pass quickly. Something I think, it is extremely crazy that we do all this work for one day....Eventually we will be able to see all the benefits of the work that we have put forward.

Tomorrow Nick has another business meeting with the CEO of Modern Woodmen. The meeting is in Ankeny Iowa. He is getting extremely excited about going to this meeting. He will be able to meet many of the guys who work at the home office in Virgina. He has been studying for his insurance test and feels extremely confident about the test. He is enjoying his job at Hy-Vee and is making new friends. He will be working approximately about 35 hours this week. He continues to enjoy relaxing and playing his video games. Good Evening! As you can see yesterday I wasn't able to get on the site to update. Mom and I got up on Friday morning and went to Shenandoah and got her haircut at the "Heart & Soul Salon". After she was finished we headed to Omaha to pick-up rosebud bowls, floating candles, iridescent rocks from a lady who was trying to get rid of them . Mom found her on Craig's list and we decided to spend the 21 dollars to get all the things. We then stopped at Hancock fabrics and got 5 yards of bamboo colored chiffon material to use with are other table decorations. I also was able to pick up the material that will be utilized in Deacon Bill and Pat Smith's quilt. I am super excited about how it will turn out. We then went to target to exchange a set of glasses that were broken from a bridal shower. While we were there we stopped by the dollar bins and picked up the cute little Dream vases and the Live, Laugh, & Learn vases. I will be putting flowers in those and using them at the rehearsal dinner. Finally around 1pm we made it Kimmy house. We showed her all of the buys that we had gotten that day.

We then sat down and decided to start trying to figure out exactly how to decorate the tables at the wedding reception. We utilized an 8 ft table of Kimmy's to make it like a mock set up. It never even crossed my mind to take a picture of what it would actually look like. We decided that we needed to run back to Omaha to pick up approximately 7 more yards of the chiffon material and we also purchased the keepsake wedding boxes from card party outlet. We ended up back at Kimmy's house around 6:00pm and the snow had already began to fall on the ground. We got back mom started making the pew bows and Kim and I started to work on the mints. I was like are we really going to make 500-600 mints. I knew I would be there forever. By the time we finished 4 packages of cream cheese it was about 12:00am. Mom and I left Kimmy's house and headed back to mom and Dad's House. The weather was pretty fierce. It was like mom and I had decided to venture out into a blizzard. It took us approximately 3 hours to get home.

Today...We went to the Emporium gift shop in Shenandoah and I picked up a few wedding gifts, registered for a few more items. We then walked across the street to get my Dad and Thomas measured for there tuxedo's. Finally we stopped at the Elks lodge to speak with Doug about the final preparation for the wedding reception. We order the table linens and the alcohol. Deb Maher is the person who is hemming my wedding dress. She contacted me this afternoon and asked if I could come back and try the dress on again. We all were in agreeance that the boning was to be removed. It was making the bust of the dress fit awkward. Otherwise, I've been hanging out here with my family and trying to accomplish as many tasks as possible. There lots of drifts on the ground and the weather outside is freezing. I look forward to the upcoming days before the wedding.

Good Morning!
Yesterday it was 64 and sunny out and today it is 35 and gloomy. I heard that we maybe in for some bad weather over the next day or so. I hate how the weather changes so dramatically everyday. It terrible you begin to think spring is on the way and then bam...we have snow on the ground again. I am working in the office at Grand View today until about 11:00am. I will then go back to my apartment and grab my things for home that I packed last night. Kiss night and tell him I love him. Then I will head to work at St. Theresa's. Where as you all know I teach the 4 year old class. It is very enjoyable for me because I am able to do all kinds of crafts and different activities with them. They all love "miss Lindsey" I have really come to love a few of the little guys there. They tend to be very clingy with me too. They never want me to go and they always want to go home to my place. It makes me feel so great inside.
Well, this afternoon I will be heading back to mom and dad's to get more things done for the upcoming wedding. Tonight I have my final dress fitting with my awesome new shoes. They will be hemming the bottom and placing a button to bussle the back. I then have to meet with Dennis McDremott to look at the candle holders for the pews. This is so I can decide how to decorate them during the wedding.I will also have to make the decision as to weather or not I am going to need to us all of them. Friday morning mom and I will be going to Elkhorn, Nebraska to make mints with my mom's good friend Kim from High school. She is like another mother to Lacey, Thomas and I. I believe that the best part about this trip is that I get to hang out with my little brother and see my parents... I miss Thomas so much! Saturday I will be running into the Emporium to get some gifts and register for a few more things. I need to get Thomas and Dad fitted for there Tux's and get the measurements in to the Tuxedo place here in Des Moines. Other than that mom and I will just be getting things done while we are hanging out at home. Have a blessed day and remember to enjoy each day to the fullest.

24 days to go...Ash Wednesday

Good Evening!
Tonight has been a crazy busy night. I got home from work at the daycare, Nick and I had to run up to Hy-Vee to grab a few items since we have now enter the season of lent. I will be traveling home to mom and dad's to work on somethings for the wedding. Therefore, I couldn't leave Nick with nothing but meat to eat on Friday evening. We then came back to my apartment threw the stuff in the refrigerator and headed off to church at 5:30pm. We got to church and all the parking lots were full and all the side streets were packed. We decided to park on the side of the driveway. People had been parking on the grass and everywhere. We headed in to hear the mass and to got our ashes. After mass we headed back to my apartment to cook dinner together. We decided that we would have fish sticks and our invented 4 cheese macaroni. We added pepperjack cheese, Velveeta, mozzarella and cheddar cheese. It was some of the best macaroni that we have created. Nick said that next time it would be best in the oven for about 25 minutes. At around 7:05pm I headed down to the Men's Basketball game. It was a conference game against Clarke college in Dubuque Iowa. The Grand View Men pulled it off with a 74-61 win. This means they will be playing on Friday night at 7pm. Now I am in the process of running the Men's Intramural playoffs tonight. Lastnight was the first night and things have been running really smooth except for the scoreboards not properly functioning correctly.
As you reflect on Ash Wednesday remember that you need to do your daily confessions and try to remember the thing that you gave up. Well, I will turn in for the night...God Bless

25 days and counting...We have a Honeymoon

Good Evening! I just wanted to update you all and let you know Nick and I finally decided on where to go for our Honeymoon. We book the Rui Caribe in Cancun. It is a hotel that does not accept spring breakers and it is an All-Inclusive hotel that has many different water sports for the quest to participate in. We will be leaving omaha airport at 6:00am and arrive in Cancun at around 10:00am. We look forward to spending time together and Relaxing... I place two pictures above so that you can see how magnificent it really is. Nick and I are blessed that we both have traveled to Europe before so we already have passports.

Nick is at is second day at Hy-Vee and is already enjoying his job there. He works most of the time in the refrigerator there stocking milk and all other types of dairy products. Well, today was my 25th birthday. the day started off with me getting a wake up phone call from my little brother Thomas. I was never so pleased to have him call me. I then got in the shower while Nick cooked me a breakfast sandwich. I went to work at Grand view and was wished a "Happy Birthday" by several of my co-workers. I would like to Thank them for all the wonderful thoughts. I then went to work at St. Theresa's where I was greeted by a few of the children that love me. They wanted to make sure that they were the first to wish me Happy birthday. Mom called and sang to me on my voicemail...It was go cute I almost melted. I love you mom! I came home to a quiet Apartment. I relaxed for awhile and then Nick walked in with a dozen pink roses and a card. he told me to sit while he cooked dinner. He made Spaghetti and meatballs with a zesty sauce, garlic bread and ceasar salad. It was a candle light dinner for two with a little touch of wine. It complimented the meal extremely well. I was then surprised after dinner by Nick with a Dairy Queen Ice cream Cake. That is my favorite cake in the whole entire world. I am the most spoiled person in the world. I love this man who seems to know exactly how to melt my heart. I am so lucky to be marrying him in 25 days. I also would like to end this note with a little thank you to my pookie. I greatly appreciated you making my birthday so special. It was a memorable time. Love you!

Good Evening! Today my little sister left around 11:00am to head back to Council Bluffs. Nick Came back from his parents to say Goodbye to her. So we cleaned up around the apartment and then we put away the laundry that he did at his parents. Later in the afternoon Nick and I went over to DSW to see if I could find some shoes for my wedding dress. These are the shoes that I found. They were originally 54.95 but they had a 70% off sticker on them. I ended up getting these shoes for approximately 17.50. It was the most exciting thing to finally have gotten them. We then went over to Jordan Creek Mall and had a light Lunch at Panera Bread. I got the toccata Chicken Panini and an apple. Nick got broccoli cheese soup and the Italian sub and a bag of chips. We also got a cup of chi tea to share. We then came back to Grand View and Nick helped me to place all my Nursing uniforms in a tub and open up more room in my bedroom closet. we cleaned up all the sweatshirts and got things 100% more organized. Good Morning! I Just uploaded pictures that I had from the Bachelorette party. It was an absolute blast. It was hosted by two of my friends from college. They had a variety of munchies at the apartment, we made a few mixed drinks and sat down and visited with each other for quite awhile. They had a pure romance party which was lots of fun. We got to test a variety of the products that were edible and smell a variety of the products. We all had fun giggling and sharing silly stories. I was excited to spend time with my little sister. She came up from Council Bluffs and help me celebrate this special time..It truly means the world to me to have her by my side. Lacey and I also got to spend the evening hanging out with Kayla Burkhiser, She is a really good friend that we grew up with. It was also special to have her there to celebrate with us too. A couple of my co-workers were there and my good friends from college. Nancy was out little bartender and let me tell you she did an excellent job. She never made a drink too strong. My friends Nicole and Liz got be a sexy little outfit and some panty hose that you use with a garter. I was never so blown away. they did a very awesome job pick out the little outfit. Kayla got me a little night in a bag gift. She put a lot of thought into it and it really means a lot. I will definitely remember that forever. Thank you! My friend Bailey & Kate got me something from the pure romance party. We had a pretty low key evening and it definitely was totally like I would have envisioned it. I had a wonderful time and I would like to just say thank you to everyone form coming and a special thank you to Lacey for traveling up to spend time with me....thank you Nicole and Liz for putting on a party that I will never forget... Love you girls....

28 Days and counting....Bachelorette Party Tonight!

The picture to the left is of my friend Nicole Risselman and Liz Gorman. They have been my friends throughout my career here at Grand View University. I attended nursing school with "Rizzy" and Liz was my next door neighbor when I was an RA on 2nd Floor Knudsen Hall. We all participated in Residence Hall Association together here at Grand View too. Tonight these wild and crazy girls will be putting on my Bachelorette Party. It sounds like we are going to have a fun time doing lots of silly thing. My sister Lacey is coming up to visit and stay overnight. I am super excited for that since she has never be able to visit me yet. My Friends from High School Amanda Sachs and Meagan Wood will be coming up to celebrate this special time with me also. I am so excited to be able to celebrate this special time with such amazing people. Look on here tomorrow for picture of one crazy party.

Today, Nick had orientation at Hy-Vee on East Euclid. He will be getting a work schedule and get all the paperwork filled out for the job. We planned on doing some laundry this afternoon. We generally take our laundry to Nick's Parent's house or we tote it to my parent's home. We are so grateful to be able to utilize their washer and dryers. It saves us from having to go to a laundromat or utilizing the washers and dryers here on campus. We never usually have any change laying around.Friday Nick also went to his for business meeting for Modern Woodmen. He learned a lot about retirement and the importance of saving and investing your money. He is really excited about working for Modern Woodmen. I will try and keep you up to date on His Job.

Well good evening! It has been a long day today. I worked for a few hours at Grand View then I went and worked at St. Theresa's. I was finally able to get back in and work with the little three year old's. The little guys were very excited to see Miss Lindsey. Today was one of the little girls last days because her mom had a baby and she will be staying home with the girls. We had a party with cupcakes and orange and grape soda. I really enjoyed putting the girls hair in ponytails and playing babies. I came home around 3:30pm talked to nick and then we decided to run a few errands. We went and got gas in the car, went to the bank and then had to run to the Jewelry store to pick up my ring. It was getting sized, saudered and plated. It was really exciting to pick up the ring. It looks absolutely beautiful. We then travel over to the Sullivan's to watch their four beautiful children. I absolutely just love these little munchkins. I was able to take Nick along and have him meet the Dan and Christy tonight. It was so cool to watch Nick and Paddy interact tonight. Maggy, Cate and I just kind of did the girl thing. Then we all decided to sit up in Paddy's room and play. We got CARS cars out and played with them. Then Nick decided to play tickle torture and then Maggy and Cate revolted by jumping on Nick. Daisy the dog was so excited she joined in and was licking the heck out of Nick's Face. it was the most adorable thing. The picture above is of the Little Sullivan children. They are the precious little guys that I truly enjoy spending lots of time with. They always light up my day. Best of all Nick held little Liam tonight. He was being so careful and cute. It was funny to watch Nick try and get Baby Liam to sleep. He would hold him, talk to him, rock him and cuddle him. But he never once offered to change a diaper. He decided that is going to be a daunting task that will come with time.

Today was a pretty lax day. I worked for Grand View in the morning and then wet to work at the daycare in the afternoon. It was a fun day at the daycare because I was able to take 40 children to PUMP IT UP. This place is where they have blow up things that the children and adults can play on. The kids were very excited to see MISS Lindsey go down the giant slide and go through the obstacle course. I came home and cooked beef enchiladas with Nick for dinner. We thought that they turned out really good. Not much else to report except Nick's cold is getting much better.

Tomorrow Nick will go into Hy-Vee around 1o'clock to meet with another manager to find out the details about the job. I will get up in the morning and iron his nice new red shirt to wear. I will give you more news after tomorrows bug meeting. Have a great evening...

Good evening!
So I am sorry that I wasn't able to get on here and update yesterday. I was busy taking care of Nicholas who has been fighting a terrible cold and who has also got a touch of the stomach flu on top of that. The poor guy is absolutely miserable. Today we had the last interview with Modern Woodmen of America. Nick has decided that he will accept the position. He also had an interview with Hy-Vee on East Euclid. It is very close to the college. he is really excited about working part-time in the evening for them. He will be stationed in the dairy department. On Friday he will go back and speak to another manager. this man will explain his job, the benefits, his pay etc. We feel that God has blessed us in so many great ways. We always look for his guidance everyday and somehow he always guides us to the better places.

As you can see we are 31 days from the wedding. I feel as if things are starting to speed up. I have to get all my final tux measurements in and get all that good jazz taken care of. I have a bachelorette party coming up this weekend and I am excited to get to see so many amazing friends and family in my life. Nick is sad because he hates not being able to be there with me. I told him not to worry. I will call him and let him know I am okay.HAha..Girls always have fun at parties...LIKE I WOULD KNOW!
I also noticed in my list of things to accomplished that I need to contact Dennis McDermott back regarding the candles that will light the aisle in the sanctuary during the wedding ceremony. I need to go in and talk to florists, finalize the host and hostess and last but not least i need to finish my play list for the DJ. Nick and I have been putting this off...That generally isn't very smart...

Well, Nick and I decided to take advantage of the free movie night her at Grand View tonight and went to see "CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC" It was a brilliant movie and we would love to add it to our collection. We are now getting ready to turn in after a long day. Good Night...

33 days and counting...Great News

Good Evening Nick had great news to tell me when I got home from work. He had his second interview today with Modern Woodmen of America and was offered the job. I was so excited to hear that he had landed a job and did really well on the tests. On Wednesday morning Nick and I will be going to a meeting at Modern Woodmen so that I can get a better grasp at what he is really getting himself into. Also at about 4:30pm tonight he got a call back from Hy-Vee and they want him to come in for an interview on Wednesday at 1:00pm. He worked at Hy-Vee back in high school and they don't for see any problem with him getting hired on as part-time help. Nick is super excited and we finally got to go out on a date to celebrate this special occasion. We had a nice dinner at the olive garden.

As you all know we now have about 33 days left until the wedding. People keep asking if I'm getting nervous or anxious. I don't really feel any of that at this moment I honest feel elated that it is finally almost here. Nick says, that he feels relieved now that he has secured one job and possible a part-time job too. Our major objective is to get married, go on a nice relaxing vacation for a few days and then begin the process of getting settled. We have made the decision that I will stay here at Grand View University and work another year. We will more than likely either move to a different building or stay put. Nick and I seem to enjoy our time here a little. I am still working toward my master's in Nursing as well.

I just got off the phone with my friend Liz. She is getting all excited about the bachelorette party this weekend. I am also getting excited because i will get to see my sister, 2 cousins, mother and a few friends from high school along with all my buddies that I attended college with. It sounds like it is going to be one exciting night. We are going to have lots of girl talking and sit around eating munchies and sipping girly drinks. I will keep you posted on the bachelorette party...Look for pictures on Sunday.

Good Evening! Yesterday was Valentine's Day and it was probably one of the most relaxing days that Nick and I had. We spend the day bumming around, cleaning up the apartment and watching romance movies on ABC Family and TBS. At around 3:00pm I went to nanny for a family in West Des Moines. I expected to be there until about 12:00am. It was nice that about 9:30pm the parents came home because the movie theater was sold out. I stopped at a redbox on my way home and picked up the movie Lakeview terrace and All roads lead home. Both movies were pretty good except I was a little upset with how the movie Lakeview Terrace played out. Okay! Your all probably wondering why I placed a picture of Mens dress shirts up on our site today. Well, good things happened when we stopped at Wal-mart out off of Mills Civic Parkway. This lady was pulling these dress shirt out of a box and placing them on a display for $1.00. Yes that is right! So I told Nick we would be stupid to not by all the colors that they were selling because it would only be about $6.50 with tax. So I decided to take a picture of them so you could see how cool they are. All shirts came with a tie. Things are going well otherwise. Tonight Nick and I just got done cooking dinner together. We made a tossed salad, penne noodles with southwestern chicken sauce, and garlic bread. We had a nice dinner and then we sat down together to watch extreme home makeover.

We all need to keep our fingers crossed for more good news tomorrow. Nick has a second meeting tomorrow with the company that he interviewed with on friday. He will find out the results of the tests that he took and then the company will tell him whether or not that can place him. We will then have another interview that I will attend with him... This will be the finalization of whether or not this is really the right job fit for him. We love you all.

Update on Nick's interview....Well everything went really well yesterday. The Company really liked his personality, his motivation and attitude. They gave him a lot of paperwork to read over and had to take a couple of tests yesterday afternoon to see his skill level. The tests also help the company to decide where he fits within their company. Nick is extremely excited about how things went. The next step will be to have another interview this time it will be an in depth interview. We are awaiting a phone call to find out how he did on the tests. I believe that he probably did just fine. As I said before...."All things happen for a reason".

Last night was a really relaxing night again. I was suppose to nanny for a family in West Des Moines but we ended up getting 7 -7.5 inches of snow yesterday which caused the roads to be treacherous. The family called me about 5:00pm and decided to cancel. Therefore that gave Nick and I time to sit down and read through some of the information that he was given yesterday. We watched wife swap and supernanny. We didn't really make anything to special for dinner. It was red bean & rice with Kielbasa cut into pieces. We decided at about 10:30 to put a movie in. We watched the entire thing and I didn't even fall a sleep. HURRAY!

Today is Valentine's Day...We got up made bacon and waffles with our new waffle iron. We love the waffle iron so much nick is excited that it doesn't stick. We've just been hanging around the apartment having a lazy day. We cleaned up a few things. Then we decided to call my mother and wish her a Happy Birthday! That's right if you didn't know my mother was born on a very Happy day. I am unsure what the rest of the day will bring. I will be nannying for a family with two adorable little peanuts this afternoon and evening. I suspect Nick will try and take a nap to sleep of the sore throat that he woke up with. He will also probably catch-up on his video games. You know it is really nice to just be able to get up and do things on my own schedule.

Good Morning!
As we wake up today the weather is gloomy and the temperature is slowly dropping. For the last several days the weather man has been predicting a snow storm that will be hitting the Des Moines area around 4pm. Last I heard they were predicting 4-6 inches of snow. It is crazy to think that two days ago it was almost 60 degrees and the sun was brightly shinning. We will not let the gloomy weather get us down today. Nick is a little excited, nervous and scared today because he has another interview. He really wants to nail this job interview today. I told him not to worry just remember to relax and breathe. All things happen for a reason and if this is meant to be you will know right away. We have nothing to loose only something to gain. I love that he has a very positive attitude and with a little loving encouragement from me. He always gets his smile back and you can see a little of his fears fade away. I get excited when he has an interview because I am then able to help him pick out his shirt and tie. I don't know much about men's dress clothing but I love how good Nick looks when he is dressed up.

On the other hand, it was nice that I was able to have a quiet and relaxing night. I came home from work and did a few things in my apartment and then Nick showed up. He knocked on my door and had a single rose in his hands. It was so cute how he said, "Babe I love you and I would like to make dinner for you tonight." I placed the rose in a vase of water on my kitchen table and then went back to working on adding the bridal shower pictures while he began to cook. The apartment began to fill with a variety of aromas. I kept wanting to get up and go over and help but Nick insisted that I relax. Finally he asked if I would like to come over and help make the twice baked mashed potatoes. I jumped up to help get the potatoes finished, while nick prepared the table with a little bit of candlelight. He plated the food which was marinated pork loin with garlic and onions on top, grapes, and homemade twice baked mashed potatoes. He was going to prepare a salad but I wasn't really that hungry. It was so sweet how he decided to spontaneously just have a candlelight dinner. He explained that it is like a little pre-valentines day since I will be Nannying. After dinner Nick and I sat down to watch Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice together.

This was my second bridal shower that was hosted by two of my dad's sisters Bev and Janie. We all had a wonderful time. I think many of the people enjoyed watching me each almost 12-15 pieces of bubblicious gum. They started out with a game where I had to answer questions about nick. Previously they had called him and got the answers. Which later he was dead meat for because some of the answer weren't completely true. It was nice to celebrate this special time with my closest family members. I love them all to death. They are all wonderful people.

Last night Nick and I cooked a new dish together. It was from one of our new cookbooks. The recipe was called chicken asparagus skillet. Nick and I thought it turned out great. We laughed after eating it because the recipe called for 1 tablespoon of lemon zest. I had no way of zesting the lemon that I had purchased so I decided to peel off the outer layer on the lemon with a potato peeler. I then took a knife and tried chopping it really fine. Funny thing is that some of the pieces were still pretty big and we could really taste the Lemon.
Today it is a beautiful day outside the sun is shinning even though it is a little chilly. Nick is doing laundry for me today. He also was going to try and get over to the student center to interview with the census bureau. I am unsure exactly what is all going on with that but, they are really trying to get some help. Tonight is going to be a nice relaxing night and I couldn't be any happier. There are no intramural sports due to the Residence Hall Association Valentines Day dance. Nick and I will have dinner together and then sit down to watch Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. It is funny how shows that you would never watch before tend to rub off on people you love. For example Nick with Grey's Anatomy and me with Stargate...We both can't wait until the weather begins to warm up because we love to be outdoors. Last year we walked at Grey's lake, Saylorville and Easter lake.
Please keep your fingers crossed that something good will come to Nick.

Good Evening,
Tonight we decided to start a blog so that we may keep in touch with our families a little better. We thought it was appropriate so that we may begin posting pictures of the wedding showers, possibly the bachelorette/bachelor parties, the rehearsal and the wedding. Nick and I are getting excited about the approaching wedding. Yesterday we officially signed all the paperwork to get married. We also got our certificate that says we finished our marriage classes.Yippie! Slowly but surely things are all coming together for the big day. My mother's good friend Kim shurter is really helping to get all the crafty things finished. We still have a few minor details to get hashed out before but, "no worries" necessary.

I (Lindsey) am still working for Grand View University as a Graduate Hall Director, where I over see Knudsen Hall. It is a dormitory for Freshman and sophomore students that houses approximately 140 male and female students. During the week I've been working part-time at St. Theresa's Childcare teaching 4 year olds. It is an exciting job since I love children and I love to do crafty projects. Over the last year I've spent many hours nannying for Nanny2Shoes. Doing mostly temporary jobs during the weeknights and on weekend. the college generally keeps me pretty busy during the weeknights running the intramural program here on campus. On Mondays we hold indoor co-ed volleyball, and Tuesday through Thursday we hold intramural men's and women's basketball. All theses sports seem to be a big hit and turnout quite a few players along with spectators.

Nick finished working for Grand View University Maintenance department at the end of January. It was very hard for him to say goodbye since he had worked there throughout his college career, and built wonderful friendship with many of the workers. He now has been eagerly creating resumes and filing out applications. Lately his days are filled by doing job searches, playing video games, watching movies and helping me to keep my little apartment tidy. If you didn't know Nick graduated from Grand View in December with a Liberal Arts Degree with a History focus.

Over the last several weeks we have had three bridal showers and have been blessed by so many friends and family with a variety of kitchen and home accessories. Everyone knows Nick and I love to cook together so all of the bridal showers focused on people giving us recipes. We have been eager to try out some of the great recipes. It has been so enjoyable watching Nick go through all the stuff like it is Christmas all over again...We are counting down the days and as each day approaches i think reality sets in a little more for the both of us...
